The benefits of clean energy have long been touted here in the U.S. – from reduced dependence on fossil fuel to the environmental benefits of decreased pollution and carbon emissions – When it comes to clean electricity, renewable energy resources for electrical power offer plenty of benefits. First – it’s virtually an inexhaustible resource. Using energy sources like sun and wind means there is always access to power and the possibilities to mitigate the effects of climate change are in reach.
In the next few years, the introduction of new climate policies – specifically a clean electricity standard – could make major changes to how we power our homes and businesses.
In fact, a key part of the Biden administration’s American Jobs Plan includes achieving 100 percent clean energy by 2035. To meet these goals, new policies and technologies that measure and monitor renewable power resources could provide what’s needed to meet clean power goals.
The U.S. House of Representatives just approved a new $3.5 trillion budget that also includes $150 billion for a clean electricity standard to work toward this goal.
The push comes at a critical time in the current world – when most of the population is starting to turn to green energy sources for their homes and cars and many cities are even adding green electric-powered buses and other standards. All of these will require clean power sources to run.
At the time of this post, a final federal standard on clean electricity has not been passed and there are still many changes that could be made but the call is urgent as our planet feels the ill effects of global warming and climate change.
