Why Solar?

There are many reasons why solar energy is a smart choice for your home.

How does it work?

After installation, the SunPower Equinox® System panels capture sunlight and convert it into electrons, which are then converted into DC (direct current) electricity. The electricity is then sent through an inverter—built right into the panel!—that converts it into AC (alternating current) electricity.

This is what is used to power your home. Excess energy can either be stored on site with an energy storage system for use during peak times and outages, or can be sent back to the grid and used for bill credits (known as “net metering”).

Save Money

Going solar allows you to lock in utility rates, protecting you from price hikes in the future. And by using the most abundant power source on Earth—and with enticing incentives like buy-all programs—you can take advantage of a more cost-effective way to meet your home’s electrical needs.

Stay Powered

The technology used to capture and convert solar energy ensures that your home stays running smoothly no matter the weather. And, best of all, when you pair your panels with an energy storage system you can protect your home from outages and brown-outs.

Protect the Planet

Harnessing one of the planet’s most natural, renewable resources is an easy way to live a more sustainable life and reduce your overall footprint.

Net Metering

Net metering is a billing system for solar panel owners. When solar panels produce more electricity than is used, the excess goes back to the grid, and the owner gets credits on their bill. They pay only for the net electricity they consume, which encourages solar adoption and reduces bills.

This is what is used to power your home. Excess energy can either be stored on site with an energy storage system for use during peak times and outages, or can be sent back to the grid and used for bill credits (known as “net metering”).

Policies vary by location, and our team of solar consultants can answer any questions you have when it comes to Net Metering.

What is a Buy-All?

Opting into a buy-all program means you are selling all of the solar energy harnessed by your home’s panels to your utility company at a rate approved by PURA (Public Utilities Regulatory Authority) that will remain for 20 years. You can choose to receive cash payments, bill credits, or a combination of both. You then purchase your electricity from the utility company as normal, based on metered readings and at current rates.
